SII, Bharat Biotech cut Covid vaccine prices for private hospitals to Rs 225

In a tweet, Bharat Biotech Co-Founder Joint Managing Director Suchitra Ella said: “We welcome the decision to make the precautionary dosage available for all adults. In consultation with the Central Government, we have revised the #COVAXIN price from Rs 1,200 to Rs. Rs.225 per dose, for #private hospitals.”

SII and Bharat Biotech have so far been the major suppliers of COVID-19 vaccines to the government.

The Union Health Ministry on Friday announced that people above 18 years of age who have completed nine months of taking the second dose will be eligible for the precautionary dose.

According to the health ministry, about 96 per cent of people above the age of 15 years in India have received at least one dose of the vaccine so far, while about 83 per cent have received both.
