The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has announced the formation of a task force called “synergy” between the National Forest Policy, the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 and the National Agro-Forestry Policy.

“The National Forest Policy, 1988, to make recommendations for developing synergies with the proposed National Forest Policy, the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 and for promoting sustainable development and management of forests and trees outside forests across the country, Existing regulatory regimes on agro-forestry/trees outside forests across the country,” the ministry said in an office memorandum on Thursday night.

The task force will submit its report in 60 days with a tenure of two months.

The memorandum states that she can co-opt any member if needed.

Most of the proposed members of the 19-member task force are either directly or indirectly part of the ministry, with only three from outside this circle.
